Boat trips through the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge. See native animals, habitat and foliage. Trip length: three to four hours. Advance reservations suggested.

Saginaw Valley Rail Trail

The rail trail is a linear county park open to the public year round and is a serene place for hiking, bicycling, jogging, walking, cross-country skiing, horseback riding, and nature study. Open during daylinght hours. The trail will cover 10 miles of abandoned rail corridor when completed and begins at Lumberjack Park in St. Charles and will end at Paines Junction in James Twp when completed. Handicap accessible.   

Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge

9,400 acres with 12 miles of hiking, cross-country skiing and bike trails. Two observation decks for wildlife viewing, various river bank fishing available. Hunting by permit only.   

Wilderness Trails Zoo

56-acre park with over 60 species of animals, picnic grounds, petting area and play area. Seasonal. Handicap accessible.
